The Congregation was founded in 1685. Its purposes were religious (worship, spiritual assistance, suffrages after death), but mainly charitable, especially during illnesses, during which a subsidy was given to the sick brother. In 1818, the Congregation obtained from the King of Naples Ferdinand I the Church of the monastery of St. Michael, which Sister Serafina had established in 1683. The images of the floor of the monumental Church of St. Michael and its details are world-famous.
