Arabba, a characteristic mountain village, at an altitude of 1602 meters, nestled between the Passo Pordoi and the Campolongo, right at the foot of the Sella Group, offers intense emotions not only during summer or winter (as is easy to imagine), but also during autumn, that “in-between season” more intimate and calm, which has now softened the great holiday tones of summer and has not yet donned its winter appearance. A magical moment in a magical place: in Arabba, the dream comes true.
Arabba in Autumn
Here, the mild autumn climate offers a succession of very intense colors, with the leaves changing from yellow to red against the backdrop of a often clear and deep blue sky. An additional spectacle, in the grandeur of the UNESCO Dolomites, a world heritage site, that the low sun of this season often lights up in pink.
Spending a few days, maybe a long weekend, in Arabba during this period means experiencing this unique scenery firsthand. Here are some suggested Foliage routes in the area that allow you to admire nature as it transforms.
1 Cherz Plateau
On this itinerary, in addition to the changing colors, it is possible to also enjoy the phenomenon of enrosadira, which, appearing on the peaks of Settsass, colors them pink.
2 Andraz Castle
Why not also delve into the culture of a place when you are on vacation? Arabba and the Fodom Valley offer the opportunity to discover simple but fascinating stories of the past, for example by immersing yourself in the romantic atmosphere of Andraz Castle, a symbol of the Livinallongo territory. Among its illustrious inhabitants is Nicola Cusano, theologian, scientist, and one of the most important philosophers of his time. The rock openings in September are from Thursday to Sunday and in October from Friday to Sunday, allowing you to experience the change of colors in a true medieval fortress.

3 Pordoi Ossuary
From the Pordoi Pass, through this easy walk suitable for all ages, you have the opportunity in just 45 minutes to reach the Ossuary, enjoying a significant view over Arabba and the Fodom Valley, as well as the Tofane, Settsass, Col di Lana and the ridges of Porta Vescovo, at the foot of the Sella massif.
4 Viel dal Pan
A classic of the area, worth tackling even during autumn to enjoy a landscape in transition. Once used for trade exchanges, from which it takes its name, this route, marked 601, connects Pordoi Pass to Porta Vescovo with a splendid panoramic view of the Marmolada and Lake Fedaia. The Alpine Guides of the area call it the “Belvedere” nestled between the Marmolada and the Sella group. It should be noted that the Porta Vescovo cable car facility will be operational until Sunday, October 2.

5 Larzonei
The picturesque village of Larzonei, a hamlet of Livinallongo del Col di Lana, a few kilometers from Arabba, is a place immersed in nature where the sounds, colors and scents of the forest will make your mind travel and relax your soul. The view over the Fodom Valley and the imposing Monte Civetta (3,220 meters) complete the splendour of this place.
