The region is divided into three main zones: the mountainous area with the Central Alps and, in particular, the Monte Adamello, the Ortles and the Bernina. Further south it slopes down towards the Pre-Alps which hold the beauty of Lake Maggiore, Lake Garda, Lake Como, Lake Iseo, and Lake Idro. Finally, here is the Po Valley, very extensive covering almost half of the region. Rich in provinces (Milan, Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona, Como, Lecco, Lodi, Pavia, Mantua, Varese, and Sondrio), Lombardy is connected to the world through the airports of Linate and Malpensa, the main hubs accompanied by Orio al Serio.

The region is a protagonist of tourism in alpine resorts but also in art cities, dotted with churches, fortresses, castles, and well-preserved historic buildings. Mantua is a pearl of rare beauty, a land of culture and artistic masterpieces, just like Upper Bergamo which still preserves its medieval city walls around the historic center. Also remarkable is Brescia, rich in history and therefore in monuments dating back to the Roman era.

The city of Milan itself, long considered only a destination for business tourism, offers many attractions for tourists: from the classic Duomo with its Madonnina, to the Navigli, the Sforza Castle, La Scala Theatre and the intriguing and educational Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology. And then Cremona, with its medieval Piazza del Comune where you can admire the Cathedral, the Torrazzo, the Loggia dei Militi, the Baptistery and the Town Hall.

Rich in natural beauties is the Valtellina with the renowned towns of Bormio, Livigno, and Aprica. Finally, for a dive into the very distant past, in Lombardy you can still appreciate prehistoric rock engravings found in Valcamonica. In this region, therefore, there is everything, depending on the type of holiday you want to spend.
