Inside the Viscontean Fortress, an exhibition path has been set up featuring four themed rooms: the multimedia room, communications, the siege, and the book. The exhibition allows a better understanding of the history and structure of the Fortress, medieval defensive systems, and also retraces essential aspects of life in medieval villages. The path includes video installations, illustrative panels, models, and a ‘talking book’ that tells medieval stories and legends.
The multimedia room, located on the first floor, offers a reconstruction hypothesis of the interior, since the building is completely devoid of historical artifacts. In the communications room, the architectural complex is related to the castles and fortifications of the province by reconstructing communication routes, contact methods, and the various relationships that had been established. The siege room, located on the top floor, presents aspects related to this theme (defense and resistance techniques, types of individual weapons) and the fortress’s role as a refuge for troops or the population in case of war. In the last room, projected images of book pages and a narrating voice describe true and legendary medieval events, providing an additional reason to visit the site.
