The Museum houses over 640 pieces that represent the history of toys in 20th century Italy through objects of great historical and aesthetic value from Italian and worldwide production. The exhibition path is divided into thematic areas. This choice stems from a historical and demo-ethno-anthropological approach that aims to highlight the relationship between toys and everyday objects, between play and real life. The exhibition spaces feature the major brands that manufactured toys in this period: INGAP and Marchesini for Italy, Bing and Marklin for Germany, Britains for Great Britain, etc. The collection, centered mainly on objects from the 20th century, naturally suggested this approach. The exhibition rooms are entirely dedicated to the display of games and toys, illustrating their evolution throughout the century, with particular attention to the links between toys and social and cultural reality. Each showcase is dedicated to a specific theme illustrated by educational panels and a didactic apparatus that provides appropriate support. The collections are displayed in 26 thematic showcases: dolls, land and space war games, means of transport, police, firefighters, work vehicles and industrial vehicles, armed forces and rescue vehicles, space or land carousels, dollhouse furniture, animals, board games, female domestic life games, robots, outdoor entertainment games or machines for indoor play, the circus, the puppet and marionette theatre, the story of Pinocchio, musical instruments, optical games and projection instruments or viewers, penny toys (these are special tin toys costing just a penny, which could be bought until a few years ago at tobacconists or fair stalls).
