December: Cali Fair from the 25th to the 30th
September: World Salsa Festival, from September 14th to 21st
Easter: Holy Week in Popayan (lasting 8 days). The Holy Week celebrations are a legacy of Spanish rule and are inspired by those in Sevilla and Valladolid. The Holy Week processions are very old, dating back to 1566. There are mainly 3: The Palm Sunday Procession with the blessing of the palms; the Holy Tuesday night Procession; and the Good Friday Procession, the most symbolic one that evokes the drama of the Passion.
Besides the adult processions, there is also the Children’s Procession with kids aged 5 to 11 and the Religious Music Festival.
