Territory Museum, San Daniele del Friuli

The territory museum of San Daniele is located in the seventeenth-century cloister of the old hospital, formerly a Dominican convent. The San Daniele museum displays precious art testimonies: archaeological finds, goldsmith works, ancient coins, glass, ceramics, terracottas, paintings. 

The territory museum is divided into three main sections: archaeology, sacred art, and ethnography. The archaeological section presents finds from discoveries and excavations carried out in the area, allowing to follow the evolution of life in the zone from the period between the 11th and 8th centuries B.C. up to the medieval period. 

The sacred art section includes, among other things, two wooden altars from the churches of St. Anthony Abbot and St. Mary of the Fratta; the painting section is also rich, with works on panel, on canvas, and remnants of frescoes from the 14th and 15th centuries. The ethnographic section completes the exhibition with artifacts related to the arts and crafts of the Friulian civilization.
