The exhibition activity, although characterized by temporary exhibitions, guarantees thematic display routes of great scientific interest in the city of Canosa.
The current exhibition, entitled “1912. An hypogeum at the border. The Varrese tomb,” allows the public to appreciate the extraordinary significance of the belongings of the Canosan aristocracy between the end of the 4th century and the first half of the 3rd century.
Materials from the Mazza Collection of the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Bari and the Varrese collection of the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto are on display.
The exhibition is a unique event to learn about artifacts acquired in the second decade of the last century from different museum containers, bringing them, according to distribution criteria, back to the unified context of the discovery.
