The exhibition activity, although characterized by temporary exhibitions, guarantees thematic installation paths of great scientific interest in the city of Canosa.
The current exhibition, entitled “1912. An hypogeum on the border. The Varrese tomb,” allows the public to assess the extraordinary significance of the funerary goods of the Canosan aristocracy between the end of the 4th century and the first half of the 3rd.
Materials from the Mazza Collection of the Provincial Archaeological Museum of Bari and the Varrese collection of the National Archaeological Museum of Taranto are on display.
The exhibition is a unique event to learn about artifacts acquired in the second decade of the last century from distinct museum containers, bringing them, according to distribution criteria, back to the unified context of the discovery.
