The chapel stands adjacent to the small church of San Severo, in the Porta Sole district, in the historic center of the city of Perugia.
Inside is preserved the only remaining work of the many that Raphael created for the city. It is a fresco depicting the Trinity with Saints Mauro, Placido, Benedict the martyr, and John the monk, commissioned to him in 1505 by Bishop Troilo Baglioni. The work, left unfinished due to Julius II’s summons to Rome, was completed in 1521 by the now elderly Pietro Perugino. He is responsible for Saints Scholastica, Jerome, John the Evangelist, Gregory the Great, Boniface, and Martha portrayed in the lower part.
