Here, in the homeland of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, the seven notes receive the utmost attention especially in summer when, from late July throughout August, the Salzburg Festival or Salzburger Festspiele takes place.
Recently, a seasonal version was also established during the Easter period, but the main event remains the summer edition.
In 2006, the Festival grandly celebrated the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth with a special edition: all 22 of the artist’s operas were staged.
The Salzburg Festival is a world-class event both for the number of performances offered day by day and in terms of renowned names competing to participate; of course, the audience responds with great enthusiasm and tickets sell out quickly.
