Born from the Fortini family’s passion for antique objects of every kind, the exhibition features over 3000 pieces linked to the rural and local reality of the past. The museum groups objects and tools by type and function into thematic sections that reconstruct aspects of the rural and artisan world. Through the collection of objects, visitors can revisit the blacksmith’s, carpenter’s, shoemaker’s, cooper’s, and woodcutter’s workshops; it also includes the reconstruction of the peasant’s cellar and kitchen, complete with all their utensils. There are sections dedicated to weights, measures, the stable, fieldwork, and weaving through the loom.
Visitors are finally captivated by the realistic reconstruction of an early 20th-century classroom with desks, notebooks, books, old benches, inkwells, pens, report cards, toys, and more.
The permanent exhibition of ancient crafts and peasant civilization offers guided tours throughout the year aimed at school groups of all levels. Additionally, upon request and depending on weather conditions, some reenactments of now-lost crafts and activities are organized, such as hand threshing, spinning, seed winnowing, and other activities traditionally practiced in the countryside.
