The museum, housed in the 19th-century Lombard neoclassical residence of Baron Ferrante Frigerj, features a completely renewed setup based on ethno-territorial systems, thereby highlighting the segmentation of ethnic groups from the early Iron Age through to the Early Middle Ages. The reading and understanding of the history of these peoples is proposed through the characteristics of their native territory and its transformations over time. The peoples illustrated on the first floor of the museum are the Vestini Transmontani, the Vestini Cismontani, the Peligni, the Marrucini, and the Carricini.
On the ground floor, the new exhibition room of the Warrior of Capestrano, created by Mimmo Paladino in 2011, places the 6th century BC sculpture—which is already of extraordinary importance and fame—in a suggestive scenography “Beyond Time” that only the inspiration of one of the most renowned masters of contemporary art could create and which alone is worth visiting the Museum.
Finally, the two collections Pansa and Numismatics, given their specificity, are located on the ground floor, outside the territorial routes.
