Il Museo delle Culture “Villa Garibaldi” bears witness to the presence and meeting of diverse cultural identities in a town that, since ancient times, has been a borderland and, thanks to the Via Valeria, a Roman consular road and ancient pastoral track, is an important crossroads of trade. The museum offers archaeological, historical, and demo-ethno-anthropological collections. The archaeological finds range from the archaic period to those of the Equi and, later, the Romans. The subsequent history is also represented by fine reconstructions and particular objects, including relics of the Garibaldi family, a branch of which built the palace housing the museum. The testimonies related to local cultures consist of extensive collections of traditional use material objects and visual and sound documentation concerning intangible cultural heritage.
