“This is the museological section of the Civic Library “C. Natale” set up in the eighteenth-century church of Santa Maria located in the rocky area of Crispiano, on the rocky ridge of the ‘Vallone Li Castelli’, and represents one of the most evocative monuments preserved by the town. Rebuilt on the ruins of an ancient medieval abbey with a frescoed apse from the 1300s. Among other things, it houses the Crypt of Santa Maria di Crispiano recently restored by the Pro-Loco Association and opened to visitors, featuring frescoes from the 12th-13th centuries depicting the Virgin with Child, Saint Nicholas, and Saint Michael the Archangel.”
