“The “Michele de Napoli” Art Gallery was established from the testamentary bequest through which the artist, in 1892, wished to donate to the Municipality of Terlizzi his rich collection of artworks (over a thousand paintings and drawings), to be housed inside the palace where he had lived, also made available to his fellow citizens and anyone who wished to enjoy his art and appreciate beauty in all its expressions. In 2009, after long and complex restoration and repurposing works to adapt it to the needs of a modern art gallery, the building was reopened to the public, allowing the Municipal Administration to organize, in July 2010, the exhibition “Michele de Napoli: from ‘historical painting’ to late works.” The exhibition presents a selection of 85 works particularly significant to the artistic research conducted by Michele de Napoli over almost sixty years of activity, between Naples, Rome, and his Terlizzi. The Art Gallery, equipped with modern exhibition facilities and sophisticated information systems, aims not only to showcase Michele de Napoli’s creative expression but also to offer opportunities for cultural enrichment through the organization of temporary exhibitions and educational workshops aimed at school-age children.”
