“La Pinacoteca “Michele de Napoli” was born from the testamentary legacy with which the artist, in 1892, wished to donate to the Municipality of Terlizzi his rich collection of works of art (over a thousand paintings and drawings), to be placed inside the palace in which he had lived, also made available to his fellow citizens and to those who wished to enjoy his art and appreciate beauty in all its expressions. In 2009, the building, after long and complex restoration and repurposing works to adapt it to the needs of a modern art gallery, was returned to public use, allowing the Municipal Administration to set up, in July 2010, the exhibition “Michele de Napoli: from ‘historical painting’ to late works.” The exhibition presents a selection of 85 particularly significant works of the artistic research carried out by Michele de Napoli in almost sixty years of activity, between Naples, Rome, and his Terlizzi. The Pinacoteca, equipped with modern exhibition structures and sophisticated information systems, intends, besides showing the creative expression of Michele de Napoli, to offer opportunities for cultural deepening through the organization of temporary exhibitions, educational workshops aimed at school-age children.”
