The Museum, originally located within the historic center of Corigliano, at the foot of the Ducal Castle, is temporarily closed for renovation. Born from an idea by Giacomo Felicetti, the Nativity Art Collection hosts a refined selection of works by Italian and international artists, and includes hundreds of pieces selected directly by the collector Giacomo Felicetti over the span of thirty years. Among the most prestigious names are: Sergio Bigolin, Aida Crocetta, Alfredo Molli, Angela Tripi, Francesco Scarlatella, Mario Cenere, Giuseppe Parenti, Roberto Barbato, and Romano Dini. Compositions by local artists such as Ferdinando Renda, Luigi Esposito, Antonio De Carlo, Mariagrazia Sangregorio are also exhibited, capturing the original tradition of the Corigliano nativity scene, to highlight the relationship between ancient and contemporary art. Almost all the displayed works exalt the fascinating miracle of the Nativity. Some present evocative settings, with faithful and detailed reconstructions of places and characters, while others are simpler and more minimalist. The materials used range from terracotta to majolica, from soapstone to plexiglass, extending to raku ceramics and carved wood, the latter material originally used in the ancient nativity scene practice. The Museum is divided into four sections according to a geographical criterion. The first and second areas collect Calabrian art, including artists such as Andrea Biffi, Anna Rosaria Romanello, Pino La Fauci, Paolo Condurso, and others. The third section concerns the tradition of the nativity scene in all regions of Italy, with artists known internationally. The last section is dedicated to European and non-European art (Africa, Asia, Americas, Australia).
