The museum is located in San Sisto, just minutes from the center of Perugia and near the Perugia – Madonna Alta exit of the Perugia – Bettolle motorway junction.
Founded in 1997, as an offshoot of the Buitoni-Perugina Historical Archive, on the occasion of the ninetieth anniversary of the famous confectionery company’s founding, the museum illustrates the history of the enterprise and that of its famous products. In addition to the display of machinery used for production and packaging since 1907, three audiovisual stations showcase the chocolate-making process, company life between the 1930s and 1950s, as well as the strategies and techniques of corporate communication. Alongside numerous product packages, advertising campaigns from the 1930s onwards are illustrated, innovative for their use of multiple media and communication tools – from radio to shows, to contests – up to the famous television “Carosello”.
