Cosa troverai in questa guida

Augsburg

Found along the Romantic Road, perhaps Germany’s most famous tourist route, the first stop of the tour leads to the discovery of the Historic Cities of the south. Founded in 15 BC by Emperor Augustus as Augusta Vindelicorum, today’s Augsburg is a charming city of Bavarian Swabia that, besides its Roman origins, boasts a Renaissance profile, as evidenced by the imposing town hall, the Perlach tower (Perlachturm), and the Augustus fountain.

To stay in the city that in the 1500s was home to the Fugger family, merchants and bankers known as the “German Medici,” the stay offer “Imperial days in the footsteps of the wealthy Fugger” includes 2 overnight stays with breakfast in a 3-star hotel, a guided tour tracing the Fuggers, a “Renaissance” lunch, and a gift starting from 130 Euros per person in a double room.

Regensburg

Still in Bavaria but heading northeast, another German gem is encountered. A walk through the ancient Radasbona, today’s Regensburg, turns into a journey through time. Situated on the banks of the Danube, Regensburg boasts a historic center recently added to the UNESCO list, made up of medieval buildings including the impressive Gothic cathedral of St. Peter, the Porta Praetoria, the lavish Old Town Hall, the Thurn und Taxis Castle, and the “Steinerne Brücke” bridge, a true masterpiece of medieval engineering and the oldest stone bridge preserved in Germany. Ideal for a stay in medieval Regensburg is the package “Pope Benedict XVI and Regensburg.” Following the footsteps of the pontiff, the guided tour included in the offer takes you to discover the most beautiful corners of the Bavarian city.
