In the same building housing the town hall, overlooking the small square that offers a splendid view of the valley down to the sea, is the Rosaspina Theater, already mentioned in the 1868 census. A plaque from 1797, located in the foyer, commemorates the establishment of the Cisalpine Republic. This “document,” combined with the structural characteristic of the hall, formed by a double gallery with a bell-shaped layout, suggests its existence already in the 18th century. Destroyed during World War II (Montescudo was along the “Gothic Line”), it was completely rebuilt after the war in the same spaces and according to the original design. The lack of information does not allow reconstruction of the history and activity of this small theater. From 1982 to 1985, it was restored based on the project by engineer Pier Giovanni Piccioni, a municipal collaborator, with several interventions aimed at improving the building’s structural stability, alongside roofing work, the renovation of installations, and the implementation of furnishings according to legal standards. The theater’s activities are linked to the Multipurpose Cultural Center, which is based here. The hall is used for performances of dialect comedies, children’s theater, and musical events. On special occasions, it hosts town council meetings. (Luisa Masetti Bitelli)
