Located in the historic Palazzo Montesano, it occupies seven rooms on the noble floor of the palace and houses as many as 600 musical instruments from all over the world. The collection is attributed to the “exploratory” genius and “curiosities” of the late Duccio Belgiorno from Modica.
These are rare, sometimes unique artifacts, some of which are impossible to find because they come from countries where entry visas are not allowed, such as Tibet. Among the items are two flutes, with a very original sound, made from “human tibias” and beautifully inlaid, and a membranophone (two-skin drum: damaru) that uses “human” skullcaps as a resonating chamber. The uniqueness of the specimens alone indicates the intrinsic value of the collection.
