Located in the historic Palazzo Montesano, it occupies seven rooms on the noble floor of the palace and contains as many as 600 musical instruments from all over the world. The collection is attributed to the “exploratory” genius and “curiosities” of the Modican, late Duccio Belgiorno.
These are rare artifacts, sometimes unique, some of which are unobtainable because they come from countries where entry visas are not allowed, such as Tibet, from which two flutes are presented, with a very original sound, made from “human tibias” and beautifully inlaid, and a membranophone (double-skinned drum: damaru), which uses “human” skull caps as a resonator. The uniqueness of the specimens alone indicates the intrinsic value of the collection.
