The Museum exhibits a collection of war relics gathered in Val Sàdole and Ziano by Aldo Zorzi.
Strategic starting point for excursions to Cauriol, Cardinal, Busa Alta: the site of fierce battles in the summer-autumn of 1916.
The initial core of the collection was formed through significant finds made during the numerous excursions undertaken by Aldo Zorzi and his family along the trails and scree slopes leading to the nearby summits of Cauriol, Cardinal, Busa Alta, Litegosa, and Copolà. Later, the collection was enriched by donations from private citizens of Ziano who, encouraged by Zorzi, recovered items in their attics that had been collected immediately post-war by their parents or grandparents. They felt gratified knowing that their “own” pieces contributed to creating a “place of memory.” Among other artifacts, we find: Malfatti wire cutters, Steyr rifle barrels, sentinels’ overshoes made of cloth or straw, an Austrian Schwarzlose machine gun mod. 07/12, an Austrian rollmine. Particularly important are a Farina helmet and some rocket pistols.
