The Christmas markets in Trentino come alive about four weeks before Christmas, setting up picturesque wooden stalls, all beautifully decorated and packed with festive goods.

The magic of the Christkindlmarkt, as seen in Germany, is tangible here—these markets offer the perfect chance to find new ornaments for your Christmas tree.

The holidays are about to sparkle: the Christmas markets in Trentino open for a season full of surprises. Here you’ll find all the key info and dates to plan your visit to the markets in Arco, Trento, Rovereto, and Levico Terme.

The Trento Christmas market is held under the historic city walls in Piazza Fiera. Over the years, this event has grown from just 16 original stalls to dozens today, drawing more and more visitors. Beyond nativity scenes, baby Jesus figures, and Christmas décor, the Trento market is a treasure trove of artisan gifts. Don’t miss the tasting stands for local Trentino delicacies—a delicious way to warm up as you explore.

By staying at one of Trento’s hotels, you can enjoy guided tours (we especially recommend a visit to Palazzo Roccabruna), including tastings of TrentoDoc sparkling wines and local products. With the Trento Card 48, you can also access the city’s museums such as Castl Thun. Free public transportation and city bike rentals are available to make getting around easy.

The Arco Christmas market may be smaller than Trento’s, but it’s just as festive and charming. There are fun events, too: camel rides on weekends, a little train departing from Piazza Tre Novembre, fireworks at the Castello di Arco, and a unique advent calendar with light projections on historic buildings. Kids can join creative workshops to learn how the market’s handcrafted ornaments and decorations are made in what’s known as the Winter Garden.

About 40 wooden stands will animate Arco from November 18 to December 23. Local craftwork takes center stage, but be sure to check out the Casa di Babbo Natale (Santa’s House) in nearby Riva del Garda. On December 8, the advent calendar lights up the palaces of Arco’s historic center. Many hotels also offer special packages for market visitors, including an “Austrian-style” snack at the Casino.

Christmas markets in Rovereto

The Levico Christmas market is held in the beautiful Secular Park of the Habsburgs in Levico Terme. This enchanting natural setting, often dusted with snow, is pure Christmas magic. Wooden booths are lit up under tall trees, while a horse-drawn carriage adds to the fairy-tale atmosphere.

If this were still the era of Empress Sissi, she would surely have admired the market from her palace windows—its location in the park, overshadowed by historic buildings, is straight out of a storybook.
In honor of this history, many hotels pair stays with Habsburg-inspired menus dedicated to Princess Sissi. You can also purchase the Levico Card for free entry to Arte Sella and discounts in many shops and restaurants.

Christmas Markets in RoveretoThis year, the Rovereto market takes place from November 26 to December 31 along the main streets of the historic center. The broader event “Natale dei Popoli” (Christmas of the Peoples) features exhibitors from southern Italy and northern Europe. Rovereto also offers attractive packages including tasting sessions at the enocioccoteca, visits to the Mart, sampling of local delicacies, and museum entrance with the Rovereto Musei One pass.

Amid the comforting scents of roasted chestnuts and local cured meats (luganega, wild boar and venison prosciutto), you can browse stalls for traditional crafts or clothing in pure Tyrolean style. A visit to the Levico market lets you step back in time and experience the customs of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

With so many Christmas markets in Trentino to explore, why not plan a full holiday in Trentino and see them all? The long weekend around the Feast of the Immaculate Conception is the perfect opportunity.
