Of ancient foundation, the church with the attached Franciscan convent no longer existing, was rebuilt in 1293, then again after the Turkish invasion in 1566, and once more in 1890. The facade still preserves its 13th-century appearance in white stone with the beautiful slightly ogival framed portal. The rose window is original in its frame, while the radial pattern has been reconstructed. The latest intervention has made the interior, with a single nave and Latin cross, in style and pointed arches. Inside it houses the beautiful triptych with the Madonna and Child in majesty and saints, an early 16th-century work by Michele Greco da Valona, which testifies to the flourishing cultural as well as commercial exchange between the two shores of the Adriatic.
