The Biscari Museum, located within a wing of the 18th-century Palazzo Biscari, one of the oldest palaces in Catania and a precious example of Sicilian Baroque, for years preserved the vast archaeological and natural collections of Ignazio Paternò Castello V Prince of Biscari, later transferred to the Civic Museum of Castello Ursino in 1930.
Officially inaugurated in 1758, the Museum boasted extensive archaeological and natural collections, as Goethe celebrates in his book “Italian Journey.” Today, the museum hosts the MF “Museum&Fashion,” which combines culture and fashion in a unique and unmissable pairing.
The “Galleria Naturalia” houses the MF Atelier of designer Marella Ferrera, while the “Galleria Antiquaria” serves as the setting for a permanent exhibition: an interactive narrative linking the creative history of the Maison with the traditions and roots of Sicily, along with a series of temporary exhibitions aimed at rediscovering and showcasing the memory of a Museum that in the 18th century was a source of pride and prestige for Sicily.
