Il Museo Biscari, located inside a wing of the 18th-century Palazzo Biscari, one of the oldest palaces in Catania, a precious testimony of Sicilian baroque, for years has preserved the vast archaeological and natural collections of Ignazio Paternò Castello V Prince of Biscari, later transferred to the Civic Museum of Castello Ursino in 1930.
Officially inaugurated in 1758, the Museum boasted vast archaeological and natural collections, as Goethe celebrates in his book “Journey to Italy.” The museum today hosts the MF “Museum&Fashion” which combines culture and fashion in an original and unmissable combination.
The “Galleria Naturalia” hosts the MF Atelier of the designer Marella Ferrera, while the “Galleria Antiquaria” is the setting for a permanent exhibition: an interactive narrative that links the creative history of the Maison to the traditions and roots of Sicily and a series of temporary exhibitions aimed at reviving and proposing the memory of a Museum that in the 18th century was a source of pride and glory for Sicily.
