The Museum currently consists of two rooms, but expansion is planned. In the entrance hall, a precious statuary cycle dedicated to Augustus and his family is displayed, found in the small Augusteum and dating back to the early Imperial period; in the second room, a wide range of materials documents the ancient settlement of the territory immediately surrounding the ancient center: besides two inscriptions related to ancient roadways, it presents evidence of the necropolises (documented through architectural elements of tombs, inscriptions, pottery, and glass) and rural settlements, reflecting an economic organization of the territory that remained in use until a few decades ago.
A few meters from the Museum is the archaeological area that hosted the famous sanctuary dedicated to the Italic goddess Feronia, near which the late Republican colony Iulia Felix Lucus Feroniae was established. Excavations conducted in the 1950s brought to light the forum of the ancient city with important public buildings, including the basilica, the Augusteum, a small temple, the baths, and a fountain; the square is bordered to the West by a complex of residential buildings with the lower part used as shops. Beyond the forum complex, the amphitheater and a second bath complex along the road to ancient Capena have been excavated.
