Museum of Orsanmichele, Florence

The statues depicting the patron saints of the main Florentine guilds, originally placed in the tabernacles outside Orsanmichele, are exhibited, after being restored and replaced with copies, in the large hall on the first floor of the building, accessible via the elevated passage connecting it to the Palazzo dell’Arte della Lana.

In large part created in the second decade of the fifteenth century, the statues of Orsanmichele represent a fundamental document of Early Renaissance sculpture, contributed to among others by Donatello, Lorenzo Ghiberti, Nanni di Banco, and Andrea del Verrocchio.

On the top floor of the building, Gothic sculptures attributable to Andrea Orcagna are preserved.
