The museum, unique in its kind, is housed inside the Renaissance Palazzo Cusani. It documents through the exhibition of objects, photographs, posters, and multimedia supports the centuries-old musical and theatrical tradition of Parma, which began in 1628 with the inauguration of the Teatro Farnese. The visit path allows you to retrace the essential aspects of the history of opera theater, documenting its transformation from a show reserved for a few chosen ones to a public event, also marked by the construction of public theaters such as the Teatro Ducale (1687) and the Nuovo Teatro Ducale, today’s Teatro Regio (1829). Of particular interest is the section dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi, titled “1913: the first Verdi Festival,” which delves into aspects of the figure and work of the great Master.
