Il Museo Archeologico “Lavinium” is located in Pomezia (RM) on Via Pratica di Mare, a few meters from the medieval village that rises on the ancient city of Lavinium founded by the mythical Trojan hero Aeneas. The Museum highlights the close connection between the city of Lavinium and its mythical founder. An entire section is dedicated to Aeneas, illustrating the themes of his journey and the type of boat used by the contemporaries of the Trojan hero around 1200 B.C. The exhibited artifacts and illustrative apparatuses mainly aim to emphasize the aura of religiosity surrounding the ancient Latin center. Indeed, the great sanctuaries of Minerva and the XIII altars are the main themes developed in the exhibition path. It is an absolutely innovative Museum, where the traditional display coexists with the highest multimedia technologies; technological tools and plastic reconstructions manage to mediate all invisible historical data, making them visible and thus understandable. The ancient world is in perfect synergy with the modern one and every archaeological find becomes the protagonist of a true entertainment work aimed at the meticulous knowledge of the past.
