The “Lavinium” Archaeological Museum is located in Pomezia (RM) on Via Pratica di Mare, just a few meters from the medieval village that stands on the ancient city of Lavinium, founded by the mythical Trojan hero Aeneas. The Museum highlights the close connection between the city of Lavinium and its legendary founder. A whole section is dedicated to Aeneas, illustrating the themes of his journey and the type of boat used by the contemporaries of the Trojan hero around 1200 B.C. The exhibited artifacts and illustrative materials primarily emphasize the aura of religiosity that surrounded the ancient Lazio center. In fact, the great sanctuaries of Minerva and the XIII Altars are the main themes explored along the route. This is an absolutely innovative Museum, where traditional exhibition coexists with cutting-edge multimedia technologies; technological tools and plastic reconstructions manage to mediate all invisible historical data, making them visible and therefore understandable. The ancient world perfectly synergizes with the modern one, and every archaeological artifact becomes the protagonist of a true entertainment work aimed at the meticulous knowledge of the past.
