The visit to the Castellana Caves – open all year round – is carried out with the help of tour guides. 

The route develops at an average depth of 70 meters according to two itineraries: the first is 1 kilometer long and lasts 50 minutes, the other is 3 kilometers long and lasts almost 2 hours. 

The temperature of the underground environments, constant throughout the year, is about 18 °C, while the humidity rate is over 90%.

La Grave, the first and largest cave of the underground system, is the only environment naturally connected to the outside: 100 meters long, 50 meters wide, 60 meters deep.

 The section of the Caves accessible to the public consists of environments very diverse in shape and size. Stalactites, stalagmites, curtains, columns, precious crystals sparkle everywhere. The names of the environments crossed are the result of the imagination of the first explorers: the She-Wolf, the Monuments, the Little Owl, the Little Madonna, the Altar, the Abyss, the Desert Corridor, the Upside-down Column, the Red Corridor, the Dome.

Finally, the last and most beautiful cave of the underground system, the White Cave, known for the richness and whiteness of alabaster, the most radiant in the world.
