The Earth Science Laboratory has been housed since 1999 in the restored San Matteo complex, the headquarters of the State Archive, located near the walls of the city of Spoleto. In particular, the Earth Science Laboratory enhances the collection of the naturalist from Spoleto, Francesco Toni, consisting of over six thousand specimens, as well as manuals, geological maps, and documents, collected for educational purposes between 1867 and 1892. Divided into various thematic sections, it displays rocks and fossils categorized by geological eras, ethnographic objects from the Neozoic era, minerals, and marbles.
