Il progetto di “Completamento del Museo Diocesano” (cod. BASBF09) rientra tra i 32 interventi del III Atto integrativo all’APQ Beni Culturali.
La creazione del polo museale di Muro Lucano fu ideata e proposta dopo il terremoto del 1980 per custodire in una sede prestigiosa, quale è il complesso monumentale “Cattedrale, Episcopio, Seminario”, i preziosi beni mobili di interesse artistico provenienti dai centri della diocesi colpiti dall’evento sismico ed i numerosi reperti archeologici dell’hinterland murese.
L’intervento in oggetto ha riguardato il completamento dei lavori di restauro effettuati sull’edificio dell’episcopio attraverso le seguenti residue opere di finitura:
– Internal finishing of the three exhibition rooms on the ground floor (plaster, screeds, floors, painting, fixtures);
– Courtyard paving at the entrance;
– Supply and installation of the hydraulic elevator to overcome architectural barriers;
– Completion of electrical system;
– Completion of heating system.
The project aims to fully recover the Cathedral, Bishop’s Palace, and Seminary complex, to create a single cultural activity hub capable of offering a strong tourist attraction.
The Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art with the cathedral’s hypogea and the adjacent National Archaeological Museum will form a unified museum hub capable of offering a varied cultural offering.
