Chiesa di Santa Maria della Tomba, Sulmona

Near the homonymous city gate is the church of S. Maria della Tomba, built in the 12th century but renovated several times.

The facade features the typical horizontal crowning of Abruzzo Romanesque style and is divided by a string course that separates the main portal from the rose window, both from the 15th century. On the right is attached the building that housed the ancient hospital built in 1424, which today preserves the facade with a bifora, while the bell tower dates back to 1579.
