It is an event that has the merit of combining contemporary art with the urban landscape. The works bear the signature of internationally renowned artists: Airò, Buren, Pistoletto, Merz, Casorati, Kosuth, Gastini, Quingyun Ma, Rebecca Horn, and rotate, from year to year, in different points of the city, creating magic, like carpets of little lights suspended in the night; arabesques that give a soft light to squares, fountains, and Baroque palaces.

Luminous frames, which light up passages and galleries. Tangles of phosphorescent LEDs that wrap around domes and street lamps. Games of planets, mosaics, words, and human silhouettes, flooding the shopping streets with vibrant colors. Beyond the ingenuity of the authors, the originality of the subjects and shapes, the people of Turin also appreciate the fact that several of these works are made with simple, often recovered materials. Like, for example, the phantasmagoric Mosaic by Marcella Borghi, installed on Via Lagrange during the 2009 edition, made with bottle bottoms, aluminum, colored LEDs, and inspired by the mosaics of the Salerno Cathedral, the dazzling light of the Mediterranean, the chromatic games of oriental carpets, and the pointillist signs of the ’60s.

For some time now, Salerno has also had the Luci d’artista, having undertaken this initiative in partnership with the city of Turin.
