Nei pressi della laguna, all’interno del centro abitato di Lesina si trova il Visitor Center of the Lagoon Park. The Lesina Visitor Center was born thanks to the passion and persistence of some local volunteers, who in 1995 committed to searching for evidence and documents in order to create the first Environmental Documentation Center. Then, with the involvement of the local administrations, in 1998 this documentation center became Naturmusis, one of the six sections of the Naturalistic Museum System of the province of Foggia, themed “the lagoon birdlife”. In 2002 the new Park Visitor Center was inaugurated, with the Naturalistic Museum, the Ethnographic Museum called “Fisherman’s House” and for the first time in Europe the brackish water Aquarium connected with the Lesina lagoon through underground channels (21,000 liters of water). The naturalistic section therefore includes an aquarium of lagoon fish species, the Naturalistic Museum, with dioramas of lagoon flora and fauna, and the botanical garden (The Way of Herbs) for a deeper understanding of the peculiarities that characterize the territory of Lesina.
