Collocated in the ambulatory of the Cathedral, the museum presents a significant overview of Valdostan art from the 13th to the 18th centuries, combining pieces from the rich treasury of the Cathedral with some works of art from various parishes of the Valley.
Among the most precious specimens, a Roman-era cameo set in a gold frame with stones and pearls from the 13th century, used as a chasuble clasp; among the unique pieces, a consular diptych of Honorius, testimony of late Roman art.
Very important are the Gothic sculptures: among the oldest works a wooden altar frontal carved from the 13th/14th century.
The collection of goldsmith works is very rich, with French limoges art objects and precious engraved silver reliquary busts inlaid with crystals and stones. There are exceptional pieces such as the large reliquary chest of Saint Gratus, whose execution, initially entrusted to Guglielmo di Locana, was completed after his death by the Flemish Jean de Malines.
Part of the museum is a collection of marble funerary sculptures, 15th-century productions by the Valdostan artist Stefano Mossettaz.
