La Nave della Sila is housed in an ancient cowshed, restored by Arch. Sila Barracco in the Old Calabria Park. It originates from the attempt to tell the story of Italian emigration from a non-regional perspective, although there are in-depth studies on Calabria, such as the stories around the world of a family from Morano Calabro, but the overall view has a national scope. The reconstruction in outline of a ship, designed by Arch. Anna Cilia, a reconstruction full of suggestions thanks to the scenery and skillful use of lights, curtains, and spaces, aims to offer a panorama of the great epic of emigrants. The exhibition of a collection of photographs, illustrations, and covers of old magazines, made possible by donations from foundations, institutes, photographic agencies, publishing houses, and private collectors (from the Cresci Foundation to the Agnelli Foundation, from Corriere della Sera to the Istituto Luce) is accompanied by texts by Gian Antonio Stella that tell the story through numbers and poems, literary testimonies and statistics, adventures of entire villages, individual families, men and women, and children.
