An academy specially established by noble Eugubians promotes and finances the construction, starting from 1713, of the theater. Smaller in size than the current one, it was inaugurated during the carnival of 1738. But structural problems soon became evident: from 1840 began a forty-year period of intense work (reversal of the stalls/stage, construction of the foyer and annexed rooms, erection of a new facade). The new theater was inaugurated in 1862: in addition to structural works, decorations, finishes, and furnishings were carried out by the main Eugubian artists (but not only) of the time. Among all, the decorations of the hall by Raffaele Antonioli, the gilded metal chandelier with Bohemian crystal pendants. Declared unfit in 1961, it was put under restoration from 1975 and on March 24, 1985, inaugurated anew.
