The Archaeological Museum of Caltanissetta, having left its historic location in the city center, was reopened to the public in 2006 – renewed in the routes, teaching, and content – near the Norman Abbey of Santo Spirito.
The new building, hidden among the olive and almond trees of the Nissena countryside, shares with the “Paolo Orsi” of Syracuse the designer (the late architect Franco Minissi) and, albeit on a smaller scale, the choice, also in this case, of the polygonal plan and building materials such as concrete, porphyry, light woods, glass, metal in a whole that ends up enhancing, without overpowering, the antiquity of the content.
