E’ ordered in the Faculty of Engineering headquarters, an interesting building built in 1936 based on a design by architect Vaccari. It consists of about two hundred nineteenth-century scientific instruments, including numerous surveying and optical squares, a series of “Berthelmy” levels purchased by the Italian Geodetic Commission since 1888, as well as benchmarks, compasses, theodolites, and tacheometers. To these are added other thematic groups of objects. Of great interest is the equipment used in determining differences in longitude: a marine chronometer built by Frodsham in London in 1865, a tangent compass, and some drum signal recorders. In the last group, composed of instruments for numerical calculations, are preserved brass tablets from the late 18th century for reducing inclined distances, an arithmometer, and 20th-century calculating machines.
