Palazzo Morando Attendolo Bolognini

On the first floor is currently housed the Art Gallery: a collection of paintings, sculptures, prints that originated in 1934 from the acquisition by the Municipality of the Luigi Beretta collection and witnesses the urban and social evolution of Milan between the second half of the 17th century and the early years of the 19th century.

In the adjoining rooms, the representative rooms of the noble house have been rearranged, a suggestive path that exemplarily documents the eighteenth-century taste for domestic furnishings, through a nucleus of decorations, furniture, and objects recently reassembled in their original form with a thorough recovery activity of a heritage scattered over time in various deposits outside the palace.

In January 2010, the new setup of Palazzo Morando was launched to give new visibility to the extraordinary artistic heritage of the Museum of Milan and the historical heritage of the Applied Arts Collections, which constitute a core part of the municipal historical and artistic collections.

The interventions carried out have in fact enhanced, in addition to the textile heritage of the Historical Collections, also the collections of clothes, accessories, and uniforms kept in the deposits of the Applied Arts Collections of the Sforza Castle, which have found their suitable arrangement in these environments.

Since 1995, the desire to document the salient aspects and protagonists of Milanese cultural life between the 18th and 19th centuries, thus integrating the documentary value of the collections, has guided the organization of some fundamental exhibitions, from “Pietro Verri and the Milan of the Enlightenment“, dedicated to the Verri brothers, to “Oh days of our redemption. Milan from the Restoration to the Five Days“, up to “The Milan of the Young Lord. The Arts in Parini’s 18th century” and “The faces of Carlo Cattaneo 1801-1869. A great Italian of the Risorgimento“. The Palace is located at Via Sant’Andrea, 6 – 20121 Milan.
