The first floor currently hosts the Pinacoteca: a collection featuring paintings, sculptures, and prints, originated in 1934 when the City acquired the Luigi Beretta collection. This collection offers a glimpse into Milan’s urban and social transformations from the second half of the 17th century to the early 19th century.

In the neighboring rooms, the noble residence’s state rooms have been restored, offering an evocative journey through 18th-century domestic style. Here, visitors can admire original decorations, furnishings, and artifacts, carefully restored to reflect their historical appearance after years dispersed in various external depots.

In January 2010, Palazzo Morando unveiled a new layout, designed to give a fresh spotlight to the outstanding art heritage of the Museo di Milano and the historic Applied Arts Collections — a key component of Milan’s municipal artistic legacy.

The renovation not only enhanced the textile heritage of the Historical Collections but also improved the display of garments, accessories, and uniforms from the Applied Arts Collections of the Castello Sforzesco, now elegantly arranged within these rooms.

Since 1995, the aim to highlight significant cultural figures and events in Milanese life between the 18th and 19th centuries has inspired pivotal exhibitions. These include “Pietro Verri and Enlightenment Milan“, dedicated to the Verri brothers, “Oh days of our redemption. Milan from the Restoration to the Five Days“, as well as “The Milan of the Young Gentleman. The Arts in the 18th Century with Parini” and “The Faces of Carlo Cattaneo 1801-1869. A Great Italian of the Risorgimento“. The Palazzo is located at Via Sant’Andrea, 6 – 20121 Milan.
