Inaugurated in 1985, it offers a comprehensive route for reading the history of the territory. The archaeological section houses artifacts and tools from prehistoric man to the medieval age; the mineralogical section includes minerals from the Cyclops Islands and Acicastello, including analcime, philipsite, herschelite, acicular aragonite, and also quartz, jasper, agates, and a Sicilian gypsum-sulfur series. There is also a rich collection of minerals related to volcanic activity on display. In the paleontological section, we find fossils dating from the Mesozoic era to the Pleistocene, ammonites, plant remains, and vertebrate bone remains.
