Il Medical History Museum of Rome, founded in 1938 by Adalberto Pazzini, possesses a rich collection of objects of historical-medical interest, many of which are original, allowing the reconstruction of the evolution of medical knowledge from prehistory to genomic medicine.

The Museum, designed for educational and outreach purposes, is equipped with interactive video and multimedia supports that allow deeper exploration of the key themes of the history of medicine, biomedicine, and the relationship between biomedical sciences and society, integrating, both for primary and secondary schools and at the university level, the teaching of the history of medicine and bioethics. The museum route is articulated over three floors.

The basement houses environment reconstructions: the apothecary and the alchemist’s workshop. The first floor offers a route from prehistory to the 17th century, illustrating the medicine of the ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean basin and the Middle Ages. The second floor describes the transition from experimental medicine to the recent challenges of biomedicine, genomic medicine, and related technological applications.
