L’exhibition includes a wide selection from the Art Gallery, featuring examples of 18th-century Venetian painting and a large section dedicated to 19th-century portraiture, both bourgeois and official (portraits of emperors Joseph II, Francis I, Ferdinand I, and Francis Joseph). Among the notable religious-themed paintings is the Ecstasy of Saint Francis by Palma il Giovane (1544-1628) and a series of Saints depicted in pastel by Francesco Pavona (1692-1777). Among the 18th-century artists, the Gorizia natives Antonio Paroli and Johann Michael Lichtenreiter stand out. 19th-century painting is mainly represented by Giuseppe Tominz (1790-1866). The exhibition concludes with some portraits from the second half of the 19th century, executed by Antonio Rotta (1828-1903), Annibale Strata (1828-1894), Valentino Pagoni (1832-1884), and Lodovico Seculin (1832-1907). In the basement, family environments and artisanal workshops are reconstructed: the traditional Friulian kitchen; the cellar and the hunting room; the blacksmith’s workshop with complete equipment; a carpentry workshop and the workshop of a Gorizian silversmith and chiseler.
