Cortina stands as a prime example of how the ski lifts built for the 1956 Olympics have shaped the evolution of a renowned, high-quality winter tourism destination. Spending a ski week in Cortina d’Ampezzo, today as fifty years ago, guarantees fun, sport, close contact with nature, and the convenience of over 30 ski lifts and around eighty runs.
Every type of skier will find the right challenge, with Cortina’s slopes clearly color-coded by difficulty: green runs for beginners; blue runs for those ready for easy to intermediate challenges; red runs for upper-intermediate skiers; and finally, black runs reserved for true experts.
The majority of Cortina’s slopes are located in Tofana and spread across the Cortina Cube, Cinque Torri, Col Gallina, and Lagazuoi areas. Cortina d’Ampezzo is also part of the Dolomiti Superski circuit—one of the largest ski areas in the world, with over 1,220 km of runs.
You can try cross-country skiing especially in Fiames, which welcomes both beginners and those with some experience. For more advanced and competitive skiing, Passo Tre Croci is the place to be. Snowboarders will find their space at the Snowpark on the Franchetti gully. While Cortina is also an excellent summer destination, booking a winter break or a ski week in Cortina d’Ampezzo is truly the best way to experience its passion for winter sports.
